The Legal Committee champions the proper adoption of good legal practices in the asset management industry by educating and sharing on legal matters within the industry through forums for discussion. Where relevant, the Legal Committee will also provide guidance and develop guidelines on matters of legal development.
Marc is the Regional Counsel for Asia Pacific at Principal Global Investors. Prior to joining Principal Global Investors, Marc was also Head of Legal at NN Investment Partners, as well as a legal counsel at Fullerton Fund Management, Legg Mason and Schroders. Marc started his legal career as a para-legal at Rodyk & Davidson LLP before working as a legal associate at ASG Law Corporation and Chang See Hiang & Partners. Marc’s experience as a lawyer in private practice covered asset management, mergers and acquisition, civil and criminal litigation, family and shipping. Before transitioning to an in-house role, Marc enjoyed a brief foray into project management with a firm providing e-learning solutions.
Marc graduated from the University of London with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) in 1995. Marc has been called to the Bar of England & Wales and the Singapore Bar to practise as a barrister and an advocate and solicitor respectively.
Don is the Head of Legal for Amova Asset Management Asia Limited. He heads and oversees the legal function for Singapore and Hong Kong and supports the Amova Asset Management Group on legal, regulatory and corporate governance matters. Don has over 10 years of regional experience and managing the legal function.
Prior to his time at Amova Asset Management Asia Limited, Don was a solicitor specialising in asset management and corporate work with experience in mergers and acquisitions and listings.

Jo-Anne Tan is Executive Director, Head of Legal, South East Asia & Australia for JPMorgan Asset Management. Joining JPMorgan in 2015, Jo-Anne handles a range of investment fund matters, including reviewing investment management and fund distribution agreements, advising on cross border issues and associated fund establishment, and offering regulatory matters.
She has private practice and in-house experience spanning more than 15 years in the financial services sector, with particular focus on the investment management industry. Jo-Anne has also advised banks, insurers, fund managers and other financial institutions on a variety of financial services regulatory matters while in private practice.
Carmen is the Senior Counsel, APAC at MFS International Singapore Pte. Ltd.
Prior to joining MFS, Carmen spent a total of 15 years in private practice, working in both large and boutique law firms specialising in investment funds.
During this time, Carmen worked on the establishment/formation, authorisation, recognition, structuring and restructuring of onshore and offshore retail and private investment funds. She also advised on Singapore fund management licensing, business conduct and regulatory matters and assisted with the drafting and review of fund management-related documentation such as offering documents, marketing materials, investment management agreements, distribution agreements, service provider agreements and regulatory filings.
